Finally the deadlock is over. AAP will be forming the new Government in Delhi. Congress is currently in a political dilemma on what to do and what not to do. Should it support AAP given that AAP left no stone upturned to highlight Congress' corruptions and inefficiencies.
Now that Delhites get a new CM, expectations are sky high on his ability to deliver sweeping changes. The following are some of the promises that Kejriwal will be keeping with his electorate:-
CULTURE
- Kejriwal has promised to end the VIP culture prevalent in the capital. He has always had problems with this. His stuff would never fit into their suitcases, the suitcases would not open up easily and most importantly, during one of his journeys, his suitcase was opened and some valuables robbed!!! No such culture should exist.
- On the same lines, he had promised to end the Lal Batti vehicles. The red beacon vehicles have held up traffic in Delhi causing immense trouble for the Delhites. This needs to be done away with. All vehicles will have blue beacons from now on. All means all vehicles registered with Delhi RTO will have a blue beacon. Ambulances will be an exception - they will not have any beacon or siren to set them apart among other vehicles.
AAP had taken a survey initiated by Yogendra Yadav showed that Blue was a preferred colour
- Last heard on this front was - Aristocrat has approached AAP to bring in their culture in vogue. VIP may give way to Aristocracy!!!
WATER AND POWER
A survey initiated by Yogendra Yadav across Delhi indicated that a majority respondents felt that the power tariffs were on the higher side.Having made this an election issue, Kejriwal now plans to reduce electricity tariffs by half. But how?? One does wonder. Well DISCOMS (distribution companies) will be instructed to release only half of the voltage to cover up the deficit. This means that electricity output will be now 115V instead of 230V.Another survey did indicate that a common man was not concerned about the power reaching home having 115V. The survey was taken in North and North East Delhi shanties. DISCOMS are grappling with this new quagmire.- Regarding water, campaign promise of AAP was to provide 700 litres of water to each household. Arvind plans to use a two pronged approach here -
first is he will initiate a survey in North and North East Delhi shanties to check whether Delhites living in high rises should stand to gain this benefit or not. The answer being obvious, therainy season months will be taken care off by the floods themselves. For the remainder of the year, he will subsidize aerated beverage bottling units in Ghaziabad and Noida. Coke and Pepsi will be made freely available in schools and colleges, all Government meetings etc. will have aerated drinks being served. In return, these beverage companies will need to provide the pending water quota falling short after rainy season.
SWARAJ
- Self rule or swaraj was promised by Kejriwal before the elections. This is an easy one for him. Self rule will have to become the norm of the day in Delhi in the days to come. While Arvind and co. will be busy planning for the other cities before the Grand Elections next year, the common man will have to fend for himself.
Arvind will take a poll (of course initiated by Yogendra Yadav); this time across the city, albeit during the nights, in desolated buses and outside pubs of Gurgaon and South Delhi whether Delhites require policing or can they fend for themselves. No prize for guessing the outcome of this survey!!!
