Devyani Khobragade is in the news since 11th December when she was arrested while she was dropping her daughter off to school. She was charged on December 11, 2013, of committing visa fraud and providing false statements in order to gain entry to the United States for a woman of Indian nationality, for the potential employment as a domestic worker for Khobragade in New York.
The subsequent strip search, DNA swabs, tooth cavity inspection and eventually her spending a night in a cell with common criminals raised India's hackles. Congress, now desperately trying to seek public favour immediately upped the ante against the US Government. Not to be left behind, the BJP upped the ante against the Congress, not to be left behind, the AAP upped the ante against Congress and the BJP and finally not to be left behind, the SP upped the ante against Congress, BJP and AAP.
The Prime Minister Manmohan Singh called this act as "deplorable", the harshest words that have ever come out of his mouth till date, perhaps he was thinking about the State of the Nation in the same breath. Manish Tewari at a press conference,"This inhuman uncivil action taken by the US administration is holistically grief inducing initiative towards an Indian national".

Anna Hazare - I will undertake a fast until death at the American Embassy building in New Delhi till Devyani's honour and dignity is not restored.
