Nandan's Chronicles 8 - finally a POLITSCION!!! Ballot RAJA arrives!!!!

Holy Ravioli!!!!

Finally the momentous day has arrived!!! In my corporate career, it was the dream of every engineer to move progressively from Technical work to Managerial role. I was called in by my manager Manmohan for a quick chat. Our CMD Antonia Maino was also present in the meeting room. Without much ado, I was congratulated for the exemplary work I had done for AADHAAR and now that the enrollment process was becoming more of a BAU activity, I had to move on with other roles. 

Wow!!! Each day a new learning for me!!! In our IT world, we want the PM to complete the delivery and then move on...here it is more of a dynamic management!!!

I was given the good news that I was now being considered for a Political role (akin to Management role in our IT world). This was it!!!! Finally I would be responsible for a P & L of my work!!!!

Antonia explained to me that Congress would be fielding me from a key constituency in Bangalore for the 2014 elections. I would be provided with all support and help from the party and that I had to concentrate only on this role from now on. The handover for AADHAAR would be done by and within the team. My opponent in all probability would be Anil Kumble.

HURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

I need to get started with this task!!! I am not overtly worried at the same time I am not complacent. He is also an Engineer like me. I start jotting down high level targets that I need to complete in order to beat Anil Kumble at the Polling Match.

1. I will get my team to collate all the memorable Kumble matches' videos. Knowing about one's opponent is the key. 
2. Next, I will make it a point to meet all batsmen who managed to outfox Jumbo during his cricket career. They will be able to provide insights into his weaknesses. 
3. Next on the list is to enroll eminent specialists on Cricket - Harsha Bhogle, Ramchandra Guha and Navjot Sidhu as consultants. Their expert opinions will pave the way for some insider information on Anil. 
4. Next I get my team to start working on project plan details with tasks, RAG statuses, dashboard views, risks, target dates, financials and the works. A deep detailed plan is the key to success. 
5. Obviously, to run detailed reports and predict trends, one needs a good BI system in place. I place an order for a Subex suite for accurate predictions and trend projections.
6. A separate team is working on my portfolio enhancement - since I will be taking on one of India's living Cricket legends - obviously I need to brush up on my Cricket knowledge so that I can use some colloquial words during the live TV debates. 
7. Lastly, I also call up my friend Azhar to seek his help on two matters - I need a good politiscion wardrobe. He will need to call up his Italian designer who does kurtas.
8. The next help is to check if he is able to "fix" my opponent Anil as I have heard some rumours about his capabilities to fix things towards his benefit. Azhar assures me of his support on both requests - I am elated!!!!

Now that all the major high level tasks are have begun to roll, I decide to take a breather and revel for a moment - the joy of becoming a politiscion finally!!!!

I text Murthy with a feverish excitement -

Nandan haara to Osama, Nandan jeeta to Obama,

Aaaya hoon main dekho - tumhara apna Ballot Raja!!!

I waited with a baited breath to what Murthy would make of this cryptic clue!!!

I receive a message, with anticipation I begin reading it - 

Appa says, come back to work. No need to take 1 INR as salary, take your normal pay. Am fed up with idiots working with me.
