Nandan's Chronicles 7- AADHAAR BAR!!!!

It has been quite some time that I wrote anything about my work after that spat with PC. Well, again, I was proven wrong. Within days it dawned upon me that PC harboured no ill will against me and things were back to normal.

The last couple of days have been quite hectic for me with AADHAAR now reaching the different parts of the country and millions enrolling themselves for the same. Now things are becoming more hectic with our Government announcing Direct Cash Transfers across 51 states. This is a landmark application for AADHAAR and I am truly overjoyed. Some parts of the media have been speculating about the banes of this programme. BJP and Mamta have painted the following image of this onerous project!!!!! 

But, nothing could be closer to the truth and this!!!!! The plan was righteous at the start - Government wanted to deposit cash transfers into the accounts of multitude of households across the chosen districts. This would save millions of Rupees for the Government. PC did mention that it takes INR 3 to send INR 1 to the end beneficiary!!!! The biggest worry was that the end beneficiaries may spend this money on cheap liquor. This is a real threat and what best way to deal with it than this one!!!!! Expand the scope of AADHAAR to include liquor quotas!!!!

Now you can use your AADHAAR card to either directly get your daily permitted quota of IMIL (Indian Made Indian Liquor) for members who are BPL. For citizens above the poverty line - the AADHAAR card can be used to link this to one's liquor license. 

What a brainwave of an idea!!!! This will ensure that people who want to buy liquor; buy a standard liquor from a standard outlet which will have AADHAAR acceptance placards or boards on them. 

The best part of this programme will be that given AADHAAR's pan India reach - local Beer Thekas and posh High Street Pubs will come within the ambit!!!!! Such noble thoughts of inclusiveness from Madam!!!!! I hope gone will be those days of Hooch tragedies in India!!!!!

The launch of this programme ANNA SHREE YOJANA this week saw some minor fracas created by BJP. I was present at the launch and saw no reason for any smoke here!!! All Ms. Dikshit said was - INR 600 transferred in the first tranche of the DCT is sufficient for a family to buy food for a month. What wrong did she make here? 

600 per month = 20 per day

20 per day per family =  INR 5 per person in a family of 4

                                         INR 4 per person in a family of 5

or the other way of looking at the data is 

                                         INR 35 per person in 1 week

Perhaps what she was trying to hint was in context of the Yojana. This was Anna Yojana so she thought people under this scheme would have meals at the frequency at which Anna has his!!!!

I have just completed the first of the many deliveries for AADHAAR this week!!!! Finally my thoughts and hopes are seeing the light of day. I decide to celebrate this with a drink. On my way to the near by watering hole, I text Murthy,"I have made you proud. Soon, India will be on a new HIGH via AADHAAR BARS!!!"
