Last week was Dussehra – the culmination of the nine days of piety and prayers and marking the victory of the virtuous over the evil. It was celebrated with great pomp and joy all across the nation- especially the Legendary Mysore Dussehra show and the Pooja Pandals in Kolkatta!!!!
Last week also saw the next chapter of Mumbai politics being written. The tiger woke up after a prolonged hibernation. And by Jove!!!! How did he roar!!!!!
Bal Thackeray addressed the Dussehra rally (an annual practice for many decades now) at Shivaji Park and it was here this time that the cub was brought out into the wilderness-filled world outside. Aditya Thackeray is now being groomed to take over the Sena mantle into the next generation.
Making mockery of the High Court orders on the limits on noise levels, he was quite in his element!!!!
He realizes that the next generation of Sena bastion will be on a different kind of a turf. The Sainiks used to swarm or storm different venues or events, now they will have to surf!!!
The maiden initiative taken up by the young Aditya is still raking in screen time on almost all news channels and also spaces in the print media.
He managed to get the book- Such a Long Journey by Rohington Mistry banned as a reading material for a degree course in the Mumbai University. His claim – the book speaks lowly about the Shiv Sainiks and Maharashtrians in general. I have not read the book so would not want to comment on whether its language was objectionable or not.
The Mumbai University which usually does a Rip Van Winkle act when it comes to changing the syllabi for the courses offered, was superbly over efficient this time with the book being barred from the academic arena in just a matter of a day.
Rajan Welukar, the Vice Chancellor for Mumbai University was very quick to defend his speed-of-light reaction on this matter.
This is what he had to say in this matter," We had exhausted our entire infrastructure budget and we have spent almost 20 crore INR this year in renovating the University building and campus. I did not want to be held responsible for any damage or destruction or defacements that may have occurred because of my non action".
I would completely agree with Mr. Welukar. He took the most correct decision under the scenarios of considerations.
The Yuva Sena leader has accomplished what he ventured into- initiate a big bang entry into political fiefdom with such an elegant panache!!! There were no morchas, no vandalizing, no disruption of traffic, no threats… absolutely no NOTHING. Just sound bytes given to the print media triggered the first success story.
Aditya has clarified that his brand of politics will venture into greener pastures, hitherto unexplored by the Sena in the past. The following are some of the plans to be acted upon in the coming days:-
- Abstinence from outright violence and direct intimidation tactics
- Disruption of internet traffic by forced closures of Internet Data Centers
- Email phishing – all mails having any positive connotation and the word Congress will be modified into Shiv Sena
- Hacking of bad, dirty west influenced portals like face book, twitter, orkut etc.
- Plan to create a search engine called SHODH which Google will be forced to present on its website. Anything entered there will take you to
Long term plans also include coming up with an IPO for Yuva Sena and list it across all the global exchanges around the world.
In the wake of this entire goings on, I happened to chat online with Rohington on what he had to say about all this.
His response baffled me to no end- He was extremely happy about this entire affair. He wished Aditya all the very best in all his future endeavours.
Yuva Sena has a partnership inked with Rohington on future sales for the next one year!!!
Sriky
