The gift of the gab, they say, is a highly potent weapon. If used effectively, it can turn the tide in your favour and if misused, can lead you to be swept by high tides. In the recent days, Shashi Tharoor experienced this, though not under favourable circumstances.
Last week, the Congress High Command (though I am yet to understand, what or who constitutes this Command) suspended Shashi Tharoor from the post of the party spokesperson.
His crime? In the recent months after Modi became the Prime Minister of the country, Tharoor has been quite vocal in praises of Mr. Modi. The Congress party initially did not take much notice of this but as Modi's post electoral popularity grew, so did Mr. Tharoor's eulogies. The Congress was still not overtly worried, primarily because of the highly refined and Anglicized euphemisms and soliloquies, most of his rantings were not fathomed by the vast cattle class Indians.
The issue became a bone of contention when Tharoor was in USA during Modi's visit. His almost-live commentary about the "rock star" was not taken lightly by the Congress. After a couple of such actions, finally, Shashi Tharoor was stripped off his post as the Congress Spokesperson.
Now what next?
Never the one to take things lying down, Tharoor decides to make amends and after a sabbatical of 2 weeks, resurfaces on social media platforms. This time, Tharoor has the following statements and comments across different platforms.
"Modi is a plague that has infected our body. He is a megalomaniac who thinks only for himself. I am so happy that he has been forced to leave his home ground!!!! "
"Modi is like an epidemic. His autocratic demeanor is a threat to all. His rise to limelight is not at all because of his hard work or efforts."
"If I were to run the country, I would keep Modi out of it."
"The demonic facet in this man is deplorable. He has always encouraged crony capitalism and has forever been devoid of all traits gentlemanly."
"Modi is a blot and a rot on the system. These vast multitudes of colonial fleas have succumbed to his charisma. He should be kept off the Indian shores."
"I strongly demand that Lalit Modi be kept out from India and out of the Cricket bodies of India. His unilateral decisions and policies have corrupted the great institutions like BCCI and ICC. Lalit Modi is the ebola of the moment. It needs to be eradicated before it inflicts the millions of impoverished cattle class humanoids camouflaged as humans."
