BCCI concluded a clandestine 7 hour marathon meeting last night. The agenda of the meeting was kept hushed up. No whiff of this went to any media company. The top brass of the world's most powerful sports body was mulling over the probable clash between the IPL and the Elections. The verdict is out!!!
The IPL will be held in India. Period. N Srinivasan made this decision at the top secret meeting held last night at a 5 star hotel suite in Chennai. This will be announced tomorrow along with another grand announcement.
Firstly, why is BCCI keen to hold IPL matches in India?
- BCCI is planning to
harmonize all records. So players setting landmark scores in IPL will hold the records across all formats of the game. No more fastest T20 century... just fastest century. - IPL consists of majorly Indian players
whose form or lack of it on pitches abroadspeaks volumes. - Betting would be permitted legally if IPL were to be held abroad. Srinivasan is a generous father in law. Mayhem from Meiyappan is already history.
Now, after a day of intense discussions today, BCCI and the Election Commission have just released a joint statement.
The IPL matches would be played in India. The Indian elections would be shifted abroad. YES!!!! The biggest elections of the world is going to be on foreign shores. The Election Commission confirmed this breaking news. BCCI is going to sponsor the Indian Elections. 10% of the profits garnered from this IPL season would be more than sufficient with a huge corpus still remaining with the Election Commission.
This is an unprecedented event in the history of democracy. The biggest ever tour junket that the tourism world has ever seen.
This decision has been met with kudos and appreciations internationally. For a change, Indian political parties have also unanimously sided the Election Commission.
Election Commission has grand plans laid out for this election. Tenders would be floated in the market. These would be for hospitality, travel and management of the elections. Almost all countries have expressed their interest to be a part of this Poll Dance.
Some countries have been finalized, en antecessum.
The seat for Amethi would be held in Venice. The seat for Rae Barelly will be held in Rome. The seat for Satara would be held in Zureiche, Switzerland. Sahara Hospitality would be the prime partner for hospitality. The Election Commission will announce the list of the seats and their global coordinate for voting in the coming weeks. The voting will be a 2D/4N package.
Other aspects of this Grand Global Event are still being planned. Most likely, the elections will be planned in multiple phases given the paucity of airports and the logistics involved in bringing the billion odd population to the airports. Another thought being considered is - designing low cost airplanes which can land and take off in dusty hinterland terrains.
