The current epic happenining in India which has a potential to change the course of our nation, has eventually seen Anna'hilation of the Government (or rather the Parliament's earlier stance).
As the entire nation celebrates Anna's breaking his fast, another event which probably could be termed as the genesis of the current Arab unrest leading to a viral movement around the world kind of came to a full circle.
After months of a continued and sustained effort initiative by the rebel forces and NATO, the lid was finally sealed on the multi-decade rule of the Libyan eccentric messiah Muammar Gadaffi. As the rebel troops marched into Tripoli, the last bastion of the megalomaniac dictator (by the way, the longest ruling non -royal dictator in recent times since 1900!!!!!) had fallen to smithereen.
But what awaited the rebel troops when they marched into the Royal residential property, was, well, unbelievable and unseen till now. Though there were always whispering insinuations about the grandeur and the magnificence of the Gadaffi residence, any outsider had not set foot in there till...... now.
The residence was everything like the Nemesis himself - enigmatic, whimsy, megalomaniac, narcissistical designs.
Let me give an eyewitness account of some of the more crazier aspects of the Gadaffi residence.
- There is a White House miniature constructed at one of the corners of the residence, it has a lot of bullet marks across all the walls and there are no windows left in that structure. It is believed that Gadaffi used to vent his anger by firing at that structure.
- All the showers and the taps had 3 options on the knobs (guilded ones of course)- Hot Water, Cold Water and Oil!!! The Libyan leader, it is rumoured, liked to have oil massages given by some of his many ladyguards.
- It is now ramshackled but there was a training arena within his residential premise for his ladyguards. Gadaffi wanted his guards to watch GI Jane on a regular basis.
- Huge statue of the erstwhile Iraqi tryant - Saddam Hussein stands tall at one of the more important courtyards. The statue is carved out of a mountain of Gold. Gadaffi used to spend many hours staring at that statue and seeking inspiration.
